The Embassy of Slovenia in Hungary kindly invites you to the presentation of two books by Slovenian writers Polona Glavan and Suzana Tratnik on 16 October at 4 p.m. in Massolit Café. Suzana TRATNIK (1963) http://www.suzanatratnik.si/ A "PÁRHUZAMOSOK" (Parallels/Vzporednice) című könyve magyar nyelven is megjelent 2014-ben a Libri Kiadónál. A történet a szlovéniai Muravidéken játszódik, főszereplője egy fiatal lány, akit leszbikussága miatt vernek meg a helyi fiúk. A könyv módot ad a kis közösségek működési mechanizmusainak bemutatására is. Suzana számos rövid történet szerzője, amelyek több mint 20 nyelvre lettek lefordítva. The book which will be presented has been translated into Hungarian and published in 2014 by Libri publisher house. It bears the title "PÁRHUZAMOSOK" (Parallels/Vzporednice). The story is placed in the Slovenian region of Prekmurje, lying between the Mur River in Slovenia and the Rába Valley in the most western part of Hungary. The hero of the book is lesbian young girl beaten by local boys for her sexual orientation. The book also provides an insight into the functioning of a small local community. Suzana has published 6 collections of short stories, the first one being "Under zero" (Pod ničlo) in 1997. In 2007 she received the Award of Prešern Fund for Literature. Her books and some short stories have been translated into more than 20 languages. Suzana graduated from sociology at the Faculty of Human Studies in Ljubljana. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Polona GLAVAN (1974) A "KAKORKOLI" című könyve két parallel történetről mesél – a 17 éves Lili és a diáklány, Alja, az élet és szerelmi párkapcsolatok különböző nehézségeivel szembesülnek. Hamarosan azonban mindketten rájönnek, hogy saját küzdelmei sokszor eltörpülnek más emberek problémái mellett. Suzananak a 90-es években több rövid története is megjelent. The title of her book is "KAKORKOLI", which in English translation means "However". The book was published in 2014 and it speaks about two parallel stories of two young women, a 17-year old Lili and, a student Alja. Both of them face certain difficulties in private life: Lili got unexpectedly pregnant, which causes problems in her relationship with her boyfriend Maks. Alja on the other hand is trying to keep on a man whom she met in Ireland and fell in love with. The point is that both soon discover that there are problems in the world which are much more troublesome as those of their own. Polona has published several short stories in the 90', however her first novel was published in 2001 with the title The night in Europe (Noč v Evropi). Polona graduated from comparative literature and English at the Faculty of Philosophy in Ljubljana.
