Safe Passage's 14th Annual Gala Supporting Domestic Violence Survivors “Courageous Women and Mothers Who Make A Difference” To Be Honored: Holly Robinson Peete, Dr. Peter Grossman and Jarrett Arthur Safe Passage will celebrate its 14th annual fundraiser by honoring community members who’ve worked tirelessly to make a difference. Since domestic violence survivor Trish Steele founded Safe Passage in 2000 the organization has helped more than 1500 women and children. Steele accepted the President’s Volunteer Service Award by Obama in 2012 and is about to get recognized again, this time by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office for helping survivors find their way to a stable job, new residence and a healthy family. WHO: Pat Harvey, CBS2 News Anchor/ Event Host Harvey is an award winning broadcast journalist with more than 25 years as a prime time anchor in Los Angeles. In 2012 she was inducted into the National Association of Black Journalists Hall of Fame in Washington, D.C. and is the recipient of two lifetime achievement awards. She’s been a dedicated supporter of Safe Passage for three years, in addition to her ongoing community service advocating for children, education, and those in the Special Needs community. Holly Robinson Peete / Woman Crowned in Glory Award Peete is an actress, author, talk show host, activist and philanthropist whose career as an actress dates back more than two decades. Her father’s battle with Parkinson’s and her eldest son’s autism diagnosis led her to be an advocate for consistent and reliable education, outreach and support for both Parkinson’s and Autism. Jarrett Arthur, Founder of M.A.M.A./ Courageous Woman Award M.A.M.A. stands for Mothers Against Malicious Acts. It is a unique self defense program designed specifically for moms that addresses every self defense related motherly concern from how to fight against an attacker while holding an infant, to what to do if you are carjacked with your kids in the backseat. It also addresses what and how to teach your children about self defense. Peter H. Grossman, M.D., F.A.C.S./ Courageous Man Award Director of the Grossman Burn Centers and President of the Los Angeles Society of Plastic Surgeons. Dr. Grossman has given his services and time extensively.
