Civic Theatre is pleased to announce the world premiere reading of To Tread Among Serpents, written byKelly Mcburnette-Andronicos, the fifth reading in the 2013-2014 season. Deep in 1959 Southern Appalachia, Pentecostal snake handler and bootlegger, Violet Haight, is eager to talk about how she butchered and scattered the hacked up remains of two men over 75 miles of country roads, as long as the ambitious urbanite reporter and crime writer, Juanita “JC” Cohen, is able to satisfy Violet’s desire for celebrity and appetite for vengeance. The reading will take place on Tuesday, March 4 at 7:30 PM at the Historic Monon Depot Theatre, located at the corner of Fifth and North Streets in downtown Lafayette. Steve Martin will direct the performance and the cast is as follows: • The Janitor: Twana A.
