21.00 20 År 150kr Nadja is a duo of multi-instrumentalist Aidan Baker and bassist/vocalist Leah Buckareff. Nadja began as a solo project by Baker in 2003 and Buckareff joined in 2005 to bring the project out of the studio and into live settings. Nadja has since toured and performed extensively around the world, appearing at such diverse festivals as SXSW, FIMAV, Roadburn, and Unsound and sharing the stage with such artists as Neurosis, OM, Earth, Tim Hecker, Khanate, Ben Frost, Liturgy, and many others. Nadja creates music that has been variously described as ‘ambient doom,’ ‘dreamsludge,’ and ‘metalgaze,’ combining the atmospheric textures and elements of shoegaze and experimental/ambient music with the heaviness and volume of metal and noise. Nadja has released numerous recordings on such labels as Alien8 Recordings, Hydrahead Records, Important Records, Robotic Empire, and their own label, Broken Spine Productions. In addition to Nadja, Baker is also active as a writer, a solo musician, and the group projects Caudal, B/B/S/, Adoran, and Whisper Room. He has released numerous solo albums and is the author of four collections of poetry. Buckareff is also the owner-operator of Coldsnap Bindery, a production house of handmade books, and curator of The Wunderkabinet, a wandering exhibition of art, craft, and curious, and The Lesen Lounge, a mobile zine library. Originally from Toronto, Canada, the duo now resides in Berlin, Germany. Press Quotes: "You don't so much throw on a Nadja album as dunk your head in one; the smoggy haze of fuzz and scuzz that permeates the Berlin-based doom-gaze duo's albums is so relentless and all- consuming that, after a while, it starts to feel as comforting and commonplace as oxygen... Nadja's capacity for heaviness has never been in doubt, but Dagdrøm lets you really feel the weight of it all. And it's a heft measured not just by volume, but by how long it takes to dissipate, each shock of distortion lingering like the tingles in a sleeping foot being shaken awake." — Stuart Berman, Pitchfork http://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/17317-dagdrm/ “[S]ome of the most shattering and emotionally exhausting music ever laid down...listening properly to music of such extraordinary intensity brings to their knees those listeners who are still standing upright, turns those who are seated into ritually slaughtered and slouching bogmen, and delivers those already recumbent straight to the Land of Nod.” — Julian Cope, Head Heritage http://www.headheritage.co.uk/unsung/albumofthemonth/nadja-radiance-of-shadows “[Nadja] play deep droning Ambient Metal where vague, indistinct sounds evolve or mutate into something altogether more solid, if not monolithic...It is crude but also oddly dreamlike. Baker and Buckareff work with this contradiction, producing a sound that takes brutal, ponderous mono-riffs and turns them into spectral abstractions...Nadja's alchemical process seamlessly transforms ponderous Metal into abstract grandeur and finally a kind of blissful disintegration.” —Tom Ridge, The Wire Web Links: http://www.nadjaluv.ca http://nadja.bandcamp.com http://brokenspineprods.com http://brokenspineprods.bandcamp.com http://facebook.com/luvnadja http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IgJdLr6uU80
