In honour of Connor's 5th birthday and also World Food Day, we're collecting non-perishable foods to donate to Feed Nova Scotia. In March 2012, 23,561 people used Nova Scotia's food banks, an increase of 39.3% since 2008. Also 202,419 meals were served through meal programs and shelters during the same month. 94% of the people using food banks are either renters or home owners, and 32.6% of them are under the age of 18. In the past our family has had to use a food bank, and we are so grateful that there are places that can provide food to families going through hard times, just like we were when we needed help.
