Description
This workshop is for doulas, midwives and childbirth educators. Content is not highly technical, but does require the basic knowledge of stages of labour, foetal positions and having attended a few births. A parent or brand new doula may find it rather overwhelming.*Explore the effects of occiput posterior on the length of both pregnancy and labor
*See how to reduce the chance of a long, posterior labor in pregnancy with a live model (when available locally)
*Understand why a cesarean is necessary
*Define the difference between comfort measures and rotation techniques;
*Use the Mexican rebozo (scarf) in a variety of ways;
*Get out of your chair and try spinning techniques for
- latent phase
- active phase
- 2nd stage
*Identify fetal position without hands-on palpation (touch) and within the doula scope of practice with Belly Mapping as seen in the 2004 International Doula Magazine. (For tips on palpation, see 2011 Winter Midwifery Today)
Comprehensive handouts and visual aids. This workshop is for the tactile learner!
