Free Lunch for 5000 people, 12-2pm, 18th of November 2011 in London's Trafalgar Square. All made from fresh but cosmetically imperfect food that would otherwise have been wasted: wonky carrots, misshapen potatoes, and other fresh surplus produce. First come first served!- Live cooking demos from chefs Thomasina Miers, Arthur Potts Dawson, Valentine Warner and Thomas Hunt.
- Join in with the apple-pressing and drink the free apple juice.
- Help our partner charities sort through wonky vegetables.
- Visit the enclosure of real waste-eating pigs!
- Speakers include Mayor of London Boris Johnson, Rosie Boycott, the Bishop of London and the Feeding the 5000 event organiser, Tristram Stuart.
With the support of the Mayor of London and in partnership with Fareshare, FoodCycle, Love Food Hate Waste, Friends of the Earth and School Food Matters, Feeding the 5000 will demonstrate how governments, businesses and individuals can help solve the global food waste scandal.
