LIBÉRER LES DONNÉES pour plus de transparence, un atelier del'Université Ouverte de Parc-Extension (English follows below)
Le mardi 6 décembre dès 19h au Café l'Artère ( www.artere.coop)
joignez-vous à un groupe de citoyens qui travaille à créer plus de
transparence au Québec. Dans un climat de corruption et de
collusion, la libération des données gérées par nos institutions
publiques nous apparaît comme l'un des moyens importants de
renforcer notre droit à être informé. La technologie est désormais
disponible. Mais nous, serons-nous au rendez-vous?
Nous échangerons sur les façons de rendre les données publiques
accessibles à la population, afin de favoriser l'exercice de la
démocratie, afin de favoriser des choix de société éclairés et, afin
de garder un contrôle populaire sur nos institutions et services
publics.
L'atelier interactif sera précédé d'une courte introduction aux
données ouvertes. Les thèmes couverts par cet atelier seront:
- données ouvertes et logement;
- données ouvertes et transport;

FREEING DATA for greater transparency, a workshop in conjunction with the Open University of Park Extension
Join us Tuesday, December 6th at 7pm at Café l'Artère ( www.artere.coop) to meet a group of citizens working to increase transparency in Québec. In today's climate of corruption and collusion, making public the vital data from our public institutions can be an important way to operationalize the citizen's right to be informed. In recent years the technology has become available, but are we ready to take advantage of it?
During the workshop we will discuss the ways that open data can be made accessible to the citizenry in order to promote democratic involvement, promote evidence-based policy decisions and to promote greater public oversight of public institutions and services.
The interactive workshop will start with a short introduction to open data, and will then follow two main themes:
- Open data and housing; and
- Open data and transportation.
