Come get hot and literate at Oakland's own Beast Crawl, an evening pub and lit crawl in Oakland. Start it off with a reading by Milvia Street 2013 contributors: Xarí Maya, John Alfred Panzer and Eli Elbogen! Hosted by Sharon Coleman. Directly following the Milvia Street event is a reading curated by Poetry Flash in the same space!! Double header!!! *** Sharee Rivera Maya is a Xicana and a nepantlera, sometimes a butterfly. Each of her poems is a map or codex invoking the mythical homeland she knows only in spirit. She's now at UCB. *** John Panzer is a former racecar driver, a former addict, and a man who will always love men, and who’s now articulating that love on the Bay Area lit scene. He's now at UCB studying Public Policy. *** Eli E. Elbogen discovered poetry on a Thursday night in Berkeley, his junior year of college. He wrote his first poem in the valley-center of a circular mountain range two years later. Now he's published.
