Maharishi University of Management professor, Dr. Promila Bahadur, will speak at the Fairfield Co-Lab on her experience of changing lives through social entrepreneurship. Dr. Bahadur is founder of the Guru Institute of Technology, computer training school in rural India. The institute gives opportunities to socially and economically disadvantaged young women and men, preparing them for successful careers in the computer field. She will speak about her experience in creating the school and the success stories of its students. She holds a doctoral degree in philosophy in computer science from Uttrakhand Technical University,India. She is from Lucknow District in Uttar Pradesh, India. While teaching at MUM,Ms. Bahadur also heads a computer-training institute in India called, The Guru (teacher) Institute of Technology. The institute offers basic and professional computer training courses for post high school students. The Institute’s primary focus, is educating young women. However, programs are open to all who desire to attend. Ms.Bahadur founded the institute 13 years ago, while she was still earning her graduate degree. Ms.Bahadur is married to Mr.Dharmendra, and they have two beautiful children, Chaitanya, 6 and Paavni, 3.
