United Sikh Association at New York University would like to serve you a free, delicious, Indian meal to brighten up your day! Yes...FREE INDIAN FOOD! Come out to the Kimmel Center 914 on December 8th from 6pm - 9 pm to enjoy a delicious plate of Indian food, learn about our culture, and socialize! But you may be wondering, what exactly is langar? Langar, or the free kitchen, which is conducted in all Gurdwaras around the world, was founded by the first Sikh Guru, Guru Nanak Dev Ji. It was created to uphold the tenets of equality between all people regardless of religion, caste, colour, creed, age, gender or social status. Additionally, langar, which is generally conducted while sitting on the floor to further emphasize one's equality before others, emphasizes the ideals of sharing and community. Everyone is welcome to partake in Langar and no one is turned away. All you need to do is show up, bring your friends, and be prepared to eat!
